How to apply gel nail polish?

Can gel nail polish be cured without UV light? The primary difference between gel nails and a regular manicure is curing: Between each coat, you cure the color and set the gel nail polish by putting your nails under a special LED light.

1. File and shape your nails. Wipe the nail with a lint-free pad using nail cleanser or acetone.

2. Use cuticle softener. Use a cuticle pusher to push back any skin off of your nail plate. Remove any remaining oil or debris from your nail with a cotton ball that’s been dipped in acetone.

3. Apply base coat. Apply a very thin layer of your basecoat to your nails.

4. Apply 2 thin layers of color gel polish. Make sure to use these colored layers to paint over the tip of your nail as well as over the surface. This will keep the gel from curling back off your nail.

5. Apply no wipe top coat. Coat your nails completely in only one layer of top gel. Paint over the tip, like you did with your color gel.

6. Cure each layer of the gel polish under a UV light for 1-2 minutes and LED lamp for 30-60 second.

How to remove gel polish?

1. File off the top layer. To remove your gel nails, you first need to file off the top layer of the gel. This will take away the shine. Only once the shine is removed can you move forward in removing the gel.

2. Fully saturate a cotton ball with acetone, place it directly on top of the nail. Take 10 pieces of cotton balls and soak them in your acetone. The cotton balls should be big enough to cover your whole nail.

3. Wrap tin foil around your fingertips. Take one of you cotton balls and place it on your nail, covering your entire nail. With the cotton ball in place, wrap the nail and the tip of your finger with tin foil. Do this over the rest of your nails

4. Allow to soak for at least 15-20 minutes.

5. Gently press and twist the foil and cotton off of each nail.

6. Take a cuticle stick and gently push the remaining gel residue off.

7. Be sure to apply cuticle oil to keep nails protected and moisturized!
